Genesis 5:25-27
Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and begot Lamech. After he begot Lamech, Methuselah lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years; and he died.
Was this literal? Do we have actual written record of someone living just short of one thousand years?
Our understanding of the early Bible times is still vague but very important. It is one of the reasons we need to study God's Word so much. To see and hear Holy Spirit lead us to great knowledge and wisdom, and deeper belief. We, even as Christians, often struggle with biblical facts. We believe Jesus died, but did Noah really build the Ark? Did Daniel really survive a lions den? Did Methuselah really live to 969 years of age?
Of course the answer to each of these is a resounding YES!
Our belief for some of the Bible, but not all of it, will always create room for the enemy to cause a backward motion in our spiritual connection to God. It will bring doubt. And doubt will increase as long as we choose to have even a tiny bit of unbelief.
Doubt in any area of Scripture can lead to doubt in the most important parts of Scripture. Like Salvation.
