The Word Given: Eastward in Eden
We begin to eat from the Tree of Life. That is, the spiritual fruit that undoes the work the enemy has put on us for the sum total of our life. In short, we begin to walk in victory!
Genesis 2:8-9
The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The Garden of Eden was a beautiful place that we can barely imagine today. It was/is a real place.
As we draw nearer to God, we come into a place where we walk a line that is closer to Him. Where we find ourselves spiritually back in the Garden.
What I mean is that we hear Him better. We see what He is doing more clearly. The Word comes alive, and we learn to grasp the underlying truths that can shape us and mold us into the person He intends us to be.
We begin to eat from the Tree of Life. That is, the spiritual fruit that undoes the work the enemy has put on us for the sum total of our life. In short, we begin to walk in victory!
Over time, the temptation presented by the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (the temptations of the world) become more out of focus, and His presence becomes more important and better defined. Our desire to be with Him becomes our purpose. Then obedience becomes a part of who we are instead of a part of what we are. We no longer do it because we are Christians, but because of the change our relationship with Him has created. There is no longer a need to obey, but that natural flow of who we are is to do as He leads us to do. Living in grace and so entrenched in it that it covers us, and we only go deeper.
Life still happens to us, but we approach it so differently that the enemy’s attempts go unnoticed!
